The South Ethiopia Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (SECCSA) and the Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration on economic research, private-sector development, and policy dialogue in South Ethiopia.

The agreement was signed during the First Annual Conference on South Ethiopia Regional State Economic Development, organized in collaboration with Arba Minch University.

The MoU was signed on behalf of the Ethiopian Economics Association by Dr. Addis Kassahun, Vice President of EEA, and on behalf of SECCSA by Eng. Bogale Bitane, President of the Chamber.

The partnership is designed to strengthen collaboration between economic researchers and the private sector, promote market-oriented research and data-driven decision-making, and facilitate constructive dialogue on key economic and business issues affecting enterprises in South Ethiopia.

Through this cooperation, SECCSA and EEA will seek to advance joint research, knowledge and capacity development, private-sector engagement, and policy dialogue, contributing to a stronger enabling environment for trade, investment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic growth across the region.

The MoU represents an important step toward strengthening institutional linkages among government, academia, and the private sector. It reflects a shared commitment to using evidence, innovation, and collaborative partnerships to identify economic opportunities, address business challenges, and support inclusive regional development.

SECCSA looks forward to working closely with the Ethiopian Economics Association and other stakeholders to translate research and policy dialogue into practical solutions and opportunities for the business community and the wider economy of South Ethiopia.
