We are pleased to share that the South Ethiopia Chamber of Commerce was recently represented at an exclusive evening reception hosted by the Embassy of Canada in Addis Ababa.
The event was held on the occasion of the visit of Ms. Cheryl Urban, Assistant Deputy Minister, Africa and Pan-Geographic Affairs at Global Affairs Canada. The gathering provided a valuable platform for dialogue, bringing together key stakeholders from various sectors to exchange perspectives and explore avenues for collaboration between Canada and Ethiopia.
Our President, Ing. Bogale Bitane Menza , had the privilege of attending this prestigious networking event and engaging in informal discussions focused on areas of shared interest and potential partnership to benefit the business community in Southern Ethiopia.
A highlight of the evening was the opportunity to hear insightful remarks from:
- Ambassador Nicolas Simard, Ambassador of Canada to Ethiopia
- Ambassador Ben-Marc Diendéré, Ambassador and Permanent Observer to the African Union & Special Envoy of Canada to Africa
Their speeches underscored the depth of the Canada-Ethiopia relationship and highlighted the significant potential for increased trade, investment, and sustainable development. The Chamber views engagements like this as crucial for building international linkages and opening new doors for our members.
"We are grateful for the invitation and the opportunity to connect with such distinguished diplomatic representatives," said Ing. Bogale Bitane . "Discussions like these are essential for positioning South Ethiopia as a viable partner for international cooperation and investment."
The Chamber looks forward to building on these positive discussions and exploring concrete opportunities to connect South Ethiopian businesses with Canadian partners.
